Why we fit Sungrow
- A major inverter maker. Sungrow is one of the largest inverter manufacturers in the world and has a strong presence in Australian homes.
- Modular. The SBR builds up in 3.2 kWh modules, so capacity suits your usage and can be added to later.
- Natural fit for existing Sungrow systems. If you already have a Sungrow hybrid inverter, adding battery modules is often the simplest path.
- Blackout backup. Through the hybrid inverter, so the home can keep running in an outage.
- App monitoring. Sungrow’s iSolarCloud app shows solar, battery and grid use. We set it up before we leave.
Who Sungrow suits, and who it does not
It is often a good fit if you:
- already have a Sungrow hybrid inverter and want to add a battery
- want a modular battery sized to your actual usage
- have a sheltered spot for the battery, such as a garage or covered wall
Be aware that not every Sungrow inverter can take a battery. A standard grid-connect Sungrow inverter generally cannot, so adding a battery may mean changing the inverter. Where that is the case we will lay out the options, including a GoodWe or Sigenergy all-in-one, and recommend one. If you want the most detailed control and room to grow, Sigenergy is our pick. If you want a very high-quality battery at a lower price point, look at GoodWe. The IP55 rating also means we place the SBR in a sheltered spot rather than in full weather.

Sungrow and your solar panels
The battery and inverter brand is chosen separately from your panels. We fit AIKO and Jinko panels, and pair them with whichever battery suits your home. See adding a battery to existing solar if you already have panels.
Blackout backup with Sungrow
A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave some circuits out, an EV charger for example. How much can run at once depends on the hybrid inverter size, and we confirm the set-up at the site visit. See blackout backup batteries.

Rebates and the NSW 0% loan
We build the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate into every eligible design and take it off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork, and we check that the exact Sungrow model is on the approved list before it goes in your proposal. The rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, set by install date: see the battery rebate step-down and your rebates.
Many customers also use the NSW Home Energy Saver program: a 0% interest loan up to $15,000 for solar and batteries, through Brighte, up to 10 years. Rebates come off first, then the loan covers the rest. How the NSW 0% loan works, or check your rebate and 0% loan.
0% p.a. (comparison rate 0% p.a.). Brighte loans. Eligibility and lender approval apply.
How it works with us
1. Free energy assessment: send 1–2 recent power bills (or leave your details and we’ll text you to set up a quick call). We size the battery, and any extra solar, from your real usage. More on battery sizing.
2. Custom design: you get a proposal with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate already built in.
3. Face-to-face site visit before every install: we check the battery goes in a compliant position, assess your switchboard (including any RCBO upgrades, see switchboard upgrades and RCBOs), and agree what stays on in a blackout. No hidden surprises on the day.
4. Install: usually one day, by our own electricians. We handle the grid application, set up monitoring, and finish with a sign-off call. Grid connection typically follows 1–3 weeks later. See the full process.
Warranties
- Sungrow manufacturer warranty: 10 years on the SBR battery and SH-series hybrid inverters (terms are in Sungrow’s warranty document and your proposal)
- 25-year workmanship warranty from us, covering our installation work
Why locals choose us for Sungrow
- Our own in-house team designs every system and does every install. No subcontractors, and 25 years in solar and large commercial electrical work.
- SAA-accredited installer (Solar Accreditation Australia), NETCC accredited, a Sigenergy-approved installer and a fully licensed NSW electrical contractor (licence 343044C).
- 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. The battery and inverter carry the manufacturer’s own warranty.
- A face-to-face site visit before every install, so there are no surprises on the day.
Sungrow FAQs
Do you install Sungrow batteries?
Yes. Sun Connect Solar installs Sungrow batteries and hybrid inverters across the Northern Rivers, using our own electricians. We tell you honestly whether Sungrow, GoodWe or Sigenergy suits your home best.
What Sungrow battery do you install?
Most often the Sungrow SBR, a stackable lithium iron phosphate battery built from 3.2 kWh modules, paired with a Sungrow SH-series hybrid inverter. Sungrow also sells larger SBH stacks. We confirm the current range and the best match for your home at the assessment.
Can I add a Sungrow battery to my existing Sungrow solar?
Often, yes, but it depends on the inverter. Sungrow hybrid (SH-series) inverters take a battery directly. A standard Sungrow grid-connect inverter usually does not, so we check your model first and tell you what your options are. See adding a battery to existing solar.
How much battery can I get with Sungrow?
The SBR stacks from two to eight 3.2 kWh modules, so 6.4 kWh up to 25.6 kWh in one stack, according to Sungrow’s datasheet. We size the battery from your bills, not from a standard package: see battery sizing.
Will a Sungrow battery keep my power on in a blackout?
Yes, with the right hybrid inverter and switchboard set-up. Australian suppliers list the SH-series backup switchover at under 10 milliseconds. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave some circuits out. We confirm what stays on at the site visit. See blackout backup batteries.
What is the Sungrow warranty?
Sungrow offers a 10-year warranty on the SBR battery and on its SH-series hybrid inverters in Australia. Capacity terms are set out in Sungrow’s warranty document, and your proposal shows the terms for your system. Our 25-year workmanship warranty is separate and covers our installation work.
Is a Sungrow battery eligible for the federal battery rebate?
We build the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate into every eligible design and take it off at point of sale. Eligibility depends on the exact battery model being on the approved list, so we check the model before it goes in your proposal.
Can a Sungrow battery be installed outside?
The SBR battery has an IP55 rating, so it is built for sheltered spots such as a garage, carport or covered side wall rather than full exposure. We choose a compliant, sheltered position at the site visit.
Should I choose Sungrow, GoodWe or Sigenergy?
If you already have a Sungrow hybrid inverter, adding Sungrow is usually the simplest. For a new system or an inverter swap, GoodWe (mid-tier) and Sigenergy (premium) are the two we recommend most often. See how to choose a home battery.
