Why people choose Powerwall

  • One unit for solar and battery. Powerwall 3 has a solar inverter built in, so a new solar and battery system can be one tidy unit on the wall.
  • Strong output. A high continuous output and surge rating suits homes with pumps, air-conditioners and an EV charger.
  • The Tesla app. Monitoring and backup settings in one app, which many Tesla owners already know.
  • Expandable. Expansion units add storage if your needs grow.

Things to know first

  • Internet connection. Tesla requires the Powerwall to stay connected to the internet for the full warranty period.
  • Size. Powerwall comes in 13.5 kWh units. If your usage points to a smaller battery, or one sized in smaller steps, a modular system such as GoodWe or Sigenergy can match it more closely.
  • Existing solar. With a working inverter already on the roof, a Powerwall can mean either a more involved connection or changing the inverter. We check and lay out the options.
  • Weight and position. A single unit is heavy, so we confirm a compliant, solid mounting position at the site visit.

Blackout backup with Powerwall

A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave some circuits out. We confirm exactly what stays on at the site visit, and we set up the backup settings in the Tesla app with you. See blackout backup batteries.

Rebates and the NSW 0% loan

We build the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate into every eligible design and take it off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork, and we check that the exact Powerwall model is on the approved list before it goes in your proposal. The rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, set by install date: see the battery rebate step-down and your rebates.

Many customers also use the NSW Home Energy Saver program: a 0% interest loan up to $15,000 for solar and batteries, through Brighte, up to 10 years. Rebates come off first, then the loan covers the rest. How the NSW 0% loan works, or check your rebate and 0% loan.

0% p.a. (comparison rate 0% p.a.). Brighte loans. Eligibility and lender approval apply.

How it works with us

1. Free energy assessment: send 1–2 recent power bills (or leave your details and we’ll text you to set up a quick call). We size the battery, and any extra solar, from your real usage. More on battery sizing.

2. Custom design: you get a proposal with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate already built in.

3. Face-to-face site visit before every install: we check the battery goes in a compliant position, assess your switchboard (including any RCBO upgrades, see switchboard upgrades and RCBOs), and agree what stays on in a blackout. No hidden surprises on the day.

4. Install: usually one day, by our own electricians. We handle the grid application, set up monitoring, and finish with a sign-off call. Grid connection typically follows 1–3 weeks later. See the full process.

Warranties

  • 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. The battery and inverter carry the manufacturer’s own warranty.

Tesla Powerwall FAQs

Do you install Tesla Powerwall in the Northern Rivers?

Yes. We are accredited to install Tesla Powerwall. Our own electricians do the install, and we tell you honestly whether Powerwall suits your home or whether another battery fits your goals better.

Which Powerwall do you install?

Powerwall 3, the current Powerwall sold in Australia. It stores 13.5 kWh and has a solar inverter built in. Tesla also offers expansion units for more storage.

How much power can a Powerwall 3 deliver?

Australian suppliers list up to about 11 kW of continuous output per unit, with a high surge rating for starting motors such as pumps and air-conditioners. We check the figure for your supply and your loads at the site visit.

Can I add a Powerwall to my existing solar?

Sometimes. Because Powerwall 3 has its own solar inverter, the simplest case is a new solar and battery install. With existing solar we check your current inverter and decide whether the Powerwall can work alongside it, or whether another battery suits better. See adding a battery to existing solar.

Will a Powerwall keep my power on in a blackout?

Yes. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave some circuits out, an EV charger for example. What stays on depends on your switchboard and supply, and we confirm it at the site visit. See blackout backup batteries.

What is the Powerwall warranty?

Tesla’s warranty on Powerwall 3 is 10 years. Tesla requires the Powerwall to stay connected to the internet for the full warranty period, and capacity terms are in Tesla’s warranty document. Our 25-year workmanship warranty is separate and covers our installation work.

Is a Tesla Powerwall eligible for the federal battery rebate?

We build the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate into every eligible design and take it off at point of sale. Eligibility depends on the exact model being on the approved list, so we check before it goes in your proposal.

Is Powerwall better than Sigenergy or GoodWe?

They are all good batteries with different strengths. Powerwall 3 has a built-in solar inverter and comes in 13.5 kWh units, with the Tesla app. Sigenergy and the GoodWe ESA are modular, so capacity can be matched more closely to your usage. See Sigenergy vs GoodWe vs Tesla.

Can a Powerwall go outside?

Tesla rates Powerwall 3 for indoor or outdoor mounting, on a wall or the floor. Battery location rules are strict, so we choose a compliant position at the site visit.
