Solar Batteries and Home Battery Installation in the Northern Rivers

Looking for a solar battery installer in the Northern Rivers? We install home batteries from Tweed Heads to Evans Head and west to Lismore, designed and installed by our own local electricians.

A home battery stores the solar power you don’t use during the day, so you can run your home on it at night and keep the lights on in a blackout. Sun Connect Solar is a Northern Rivers business based near Mullumbimby. We size every home battery from your real power bills, check your home in person before install day, and do the work ourselves. No sales company, no subcontractors.

The home batteries we install

  • Sigenergy (premium). A modular home battery and inverter system. We’re a Sigenergy-approved installer.
  • GoodWe ESA (mid-tier). An all-in-one unit built from 8 kWh battery modules. Very high quality for the price point.
  • Sungrow, Solax and Tesla. We install these too, when they suit your home better.

Not sure which one is right for you? Our battery comparison walks through the differences, and we’ll recommend one on your assessment.

Adding a home battery to your existing solar

Most of the home batteries we install go on homes that already have solar. We start with your power bills and work out which of three situations you’re in:

  • No solar yet: we size solar and a battery together from your real usage.
  • Solar, but not enough: we check whether your panels can cover your daytime use and charge a battery for the night. If not, we design the extra solar you need.
  • Solar, and enough of it: your panels cover the day and can charge a battery for the night, so it’s a battery-only job.

More detail: adding a battery to existing solar and what size battery do I need.

Sized from your power bills

Send us one or two recent power bills, or call us on 0483 903 020. We look at how much power you use and when, and design a system for your household, not a one-size package. Our own in-house team designs every system.

Not sure which battery suits your home? Take our 60-second battery quiz for a likely size range, Sigenergy or GoodWe, and whether you need more solar. No prices, no details needed.

A site visit before every install

We don’t quote a battery and turn up on the day. Before every install we visit in person to:

  • find a compliant position for the battery
  • check your switchboard, including any RCBO upgrades needed to meet current safety standards
  • agree on everything with you, so you’re happy before install day

That way there are no hidden surprises or extra costs on the day.

Blackout backup

Solar on its own switches off when the grid goes down. A home battery set up for backup keeps your home running. A typical install from us backs up the whole home, running all circuits, unless you ask us to leave some out (an EV charger, for example). Read more about blackout backup batteries.

Rebates, the NSW 0% loan and deposits

Cheaper Home Batteries rebate: we build the federal rebate into every design, take it off at point of sale and do the paperwork. It steps down on 1 January, and again on 1 July 2027, and the rate is set by your install date. Here’s how the battery rebate step-down works.

NSW Home Energy Saver program: 0% interest loan up to $15,000 for solar and batteries, through Brighte, up to 10 years. Rebates come off first, then the loan can cover the rest. Eligibility criteria apply. Subject to lender approval. More on the NSW 0% solar and battery loan.

Deposits: a 10% deposit if you pay with your own money, or no deposit when you use the NSW 0% loan.

Northern Rivers residents: $500 off your system. Ask us about it on your assessment.

Why Northern Rivers locals choose us for their home battery

  • We do the work ourselves. Our own electricians design and install every system. No subcontractors.
  • Accredited: SAA-accredited installer, New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) accredited, Sigenergy-approved installer, and a fully licensed NSW electrical contractor (licence 343044C).
  • Warranties: 25-year workmanship on our installation work, 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter, 25-year panel performance.
  • We handle the paperwork: rebates, the grid application, monitoring setup and a sign-off call once you’re connected.

Home battery FAQs

How big a home battery do I need?

It depends on how much power you use in the evening and overnight, and whether you want blackout backup. We size it from one or two of your recent power bills, so the battery matches how your household actually uses power, not a generic package.

Can I add a home battery to my existing solar?

Yes, in most cases. We check whether your current solar can cover your daytime use and still charge a battery for the night. If it can, it’s a battery-only job. If it can’t, we design the extra solar you need to go with it.

Will a home battery run my house in a blackout?

A typical install from us backs up the whole home, running all circuits, unless you ask us to leave some out, such as an EV charger. How long it lasts depends on the battery size, your solar and what you run, and we go through that with you before install.

How long does a home battery install take?

Usually one day, with our own electricians on site. Before that, we do a face-to-face site visit to check the battery position and your switchboard, so there are no surprises on the day. Grid connection typically follows within 1 to 3 weeks.

What rebates apply to a home battery?

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate, plus solar STCs if you’re adding panels. We build them into your design, take them off at point of sale and do the paperwork. The battery rebate steps down on 1 January and again on 1 July 2027, set by your install date.

Who installs solar batteries in the Northern Rivers?

We do, with our own electricians and no subcontractors. Sun Connect Solar is based near Mullumbimby and installs Sigenergy and GoodWe home batteries (plus Sungrow, Solax and Tesla when they suit better) from Tweed Heads to Evans Head and west to Lismore, with a face-to-face site visit before every install.

Do you add solar batteries to homes near the beach?

Yes, but each battery maker sets its own rules for salt air, so we check the distance to the coast and the battery position at the site visit and pick a brand and spot that suit your home. See solar batteries near the coast.
