Solar, batteries, EV chargers and off-grid systems for Lismore homes and businesses, from the CBD to the hills.

Lismore is a city of two halves when it comes to solar. The CBD, North Lismore and South Lismore sit on the floodplain of the Wilsons River, which reached about 11.6 metres in 2017 and a record 14.4 metres in 2022, more than 2 metres above anything recorded before. The levee was overtopped both times. Up the hill, Lismore Heights, Girards Hill and Goonellabah sit above that water. We design differently for each.

Floodplain homes: CBD, North and South Lismore

On the floodplain, the battery, inverter, isolators and switchboard work need to go as high as practical, within the installation rules. Since 2022 some homes have been raised under the Resilient Homes Program, and the space under a raised home is often the level that floods. We work out a compliant position above your known flood level on the site visit, not on install day.

Any solar inverter, battery or wiring that has been under water must be checked by a licensed electrician before it’s used again. We do inspections and repairs as well as new systems.

Up the hill

Higher ground has its own jobs: older homes with older switchboards that need RCBO upgrades, relocated houses on new blocks at estates like Mount Pleasant, and roofs facing the view rather than north. More on our Goonellabah page.

Businesses, the university and commercial sites

Lismore is the commercial centre of the Northern Rivers, and home to the main campus of Southern Cross University in East Lismore. For shops, workshops and larger sites, our large commercial electrical background means three-phase boards, bigger systems and working around your trading hours are routine. Commercial solar →

Lismore FAQs

My home is in North or South Lismore. Can I still have a battery?

Yes. We place the battery and inverter as high above your known flood level as practical, within the installation rules, and confirm the spot with you on the site visit.

My system went under water in 2022. Can it be switched back on?

Not until a licensed electrician has checked it. We inspect the panels, inverter, battery and wiring and tell you honestly what can stay.

Do you install solar for Lismore businesses?

Yes, from small shops to larger commercial sites. We design from your bills or interval data and work around your trading hours.

How far out of Lismore do you go?

About 15 km west of the city, plus Goonellabah, Bexhill, Clunes, Alstonville, Wollongbar and south to Coraki.

Do you install EV chargers in Lismore?

Yes, for homes and businesses.

When does the battery rebate drop?

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027. It’s set by your install date, and your proposal shows the current figure.
