Why a solar company has a workshop up a valley

We are electricians first, not a sales office, so the base is built around the work: racking for panels, batteries and inverters waiting for the jobs they are booked on, cable, rail and mounting gear, test equipment, and room to load the vans. Most of our customers never need to come here. We come to you: a phone call to go through your power bills, a design, then a face-to-face site visit at your home before install day to check where the battery goes and what your switchboard needs.

If you would rather see the gear before you decide, you are welcome to visit by appointment. Depending on what is in stock for the jobs ahead, we can usually show you the Sigenergy and GoodWe ESA batteries we install, AIKO and Jinko panels up close, and how a battery is mounted, cabled and protected so it meets the AS/NZS 5139 battery standard. Bring a recent power bill and we can talk sizes while you are here.

Where we are

Wilsons Creek is a hinterland valley in the Byron Shire, about 4 km west of Mullumbimby town centre; the workshop is at 119 Yankee Creek Rd and the Google Maps directions link above takes you straight to it. Being this side of town makes us close neighbours to Mullumbimby, Myocum, Mullumbimby Creek, Main Arm and Upper Main Arm, Goonengerry, Huonbrook and Federal, and a short drive from Ocean Shores, New Brighton, South Golden Beach and Brunswick Heads on the coast, with Byron Bay and Bangalow about half an hour away.

There is a bit of history to being a solar business at Wilsons Creek: in 1925 Mullumbimby became one of the first country towns in NSW with its own electricity supply, from a hydro-electric scheme on this creek. A hundred years on, the valley is making its own power again, this time on roofs.

Jobs by our own team near the workshop

Because we live and work here, the hinterland around the workshop has some of our most varied jobs. A few you can read in full: 12 kW of AIKO solar and a Sigenergy battery at Wilsons Creek; batteries at Goonengerry, Wilsons Creek and The Pocket; four solar and battery jobs in the Main Arm valley; 22.8 kW of solar, a 40 kWh Sigenergy battery and a DC EV charger at Huonbrook; a hinterland home taken fully off-grid; and four more jobs at Mullumbimby Creek. The map of our installs by town shows the rest, with no names or addresses.

Out here the power can be off for longer than in town, so most hinterland installs are set up to back up the whole home in a blackout, and some properties go off-grid altogether. We size every system from your real power bills, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs built into the design.

How a job runs from here

  1. Free energy assessment: send one or two recent power bills, or leave your name and mobile and we text you to set up a quick call.
  2. Design: our own electricians size the solar and battery from your real usage.
  3. Site visit at your home: battery position, switchboard and any RCBO upgrades checked before install day, so there are no surprises.
  4. Install: the van leaves Wilsons Creek loaded for your job; most installs take one day. We handle the grid application and the rebate paperwork.
  5. After: monitoring set up, grid connection, a sign-off call, and a 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. See your rebates and the NSW 0% loan.

Northern Rivers residents: $500 off your system. Ask us about it on your assessment.
