Jinko Tiger Neo solar panels on a pale green metal roof at Main Arm, with rainforest and the ranges behind, installed by Sun Connect Solar

1. Jinko solar on a GoodWe inverter (February 2024)

A home on a pale green metal roof with rainforest and the ranges behind. The old system came off at no charge, and 14 Jinko Tiger Neo panels (475 W each), 6.65 kW, went on in two long rows, running on a GoodWe 5 kW single-phase inverter.

2. An 8 kWh Sigenergy battery with new panels (December 2025)

Further up the valley, a home with a blue corrugated roof and an older solar and battery set-up. The old gear was disconnected and made safe for the owners to remove, and the new system went in: 14 Jinko Tiger Neo panels (470 W each), about 6.6 kW, and a 6 kW Sigenergy SigenStor with one battery module (8 kWh), ready to add more.

3. A 24 kWh battery, existing solar kept (September 2025)

A home among palms on a dark metal roof, with solar already on it. The existing system was reconfigured to run from a Sigenergy Gateway, so it works with the battery and in blackouts. New all-black AIKO panels (440 W each) went on beside the older array, and the battery is a 10 kW SigenStor controller with three modules, about 24 kWh.

4. Upper Main Arm: AIKO solar and a 24 kWh battery (November 2025)

At the top of the valley, among forest and palms, 23 all-black AIKO panels (465 W each, an upgrade from the 440 W panels first quoted) went on the metal roof, with a 12 kW Sigenergy SigenStor controller and three battery modules, about 24 kWh.

The Main Arm valley

Main Arm and Upper Main Arm follow the creek north from Mullumbimby into the hills, with acreage homes, long rural power lines and plenty of storms, so batteries and backup are common requests here. Nearby: a 54 kWh Sigenergy battery in the Mullumbimby hinterland and an off-grid Sigenergy system with a generator near Mullumbimby.

How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

Every new install from us now comes with a 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.

Questions we get asked

Do you work out at Main Arm?

Yes. The Main Arm valley runs north from Mullumbimby, and we are based just outside Mullumbimby, so it is close to home.

Can old solar and batteries be left in place?

On one of these jobs the old solar and batteries were disconnected and made safe, and the owners removed them themselves, as agreed in the quote.

Can an older system run through a new Sigenergy Gateway?

Yes. On the 24 kWh job at Main Arm the existing solar was reconfigured to run from the Gateway, so it keeps producing in a blackout. See does my solar work in a blackout.

What happens when the grid goes down?

The Sigenergy Gateway switches the home over to the battery and solar. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out. See blackout backup batteries.

Thinking about solar and a battery?

We’re based near Mullumbimby and install across the Northern Rivers. See solar and batteries in Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads, or compare Sigenergy, GoodWe and Sungrow, Solax and Tesla.
