Solar not performing, inverter showing an error, or a storm just went through? We inspect, find the fault and fix it.

Solar systems run quietly for years, so problems often go unnoticed until a bill jumps. Northern Rivers weather is hard on equipment: heat, humidity, heavy rain, storms and, in some areas, floods. A proper inspection by a licensed electrician catches problems early.

Signs something is wrong

  • your monitoring app shows zero or much less than usual
  • a red light or error code on the inverter
  • your power bill jumps without a change in how you use power
  • a circuit breaker or safety switch keeps tripping
  • damage after a storm, a branch strike or a flood
  • a burning smell, scorch marks or crackling near any equipment

Safety first: if you smell burning, see scorch marks or the equipment has been under water, don’t touch it. Keep clear and call us.

What we check on an inspection

  • Panels and mounting: cracked or damaged panels, loose fixings and rails, and anything that has shifted after a storm.
  • Cabling and isolators: water getting into isolators and connectors is a common fault on older systems.
  • Inverter: fault logs, settings and whether output matches what the panels should produce.
  • Electrical testing: insulation and earthing tests to find faults you can’t see.
  • Battery: charging, backup settings and system health, if you have one.
  • Monitoring: getting your app working again so you can see problems early.

You get a plain-English report: what we found, what needs fixing and what can wait.

Common repairs

Replacing failed or water-damaged isolators and connectors, inverter replacement, reconnecting monitoring, repairing storm damage, and switchboard faults linked to the solar. Where equipment is under manufacturer warranty, we help you with the claim.

Repair or replace?

An old system isn’t always worth pouring money into. If an inverter has failed after many years, a replacement can be the time to look at a battery-ready or all-in-one system. We give you a straight answer either way. See adding a battery to existing solar and how to choose a battery brand.

After storms and floods

After ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and the 2022 floods, plenty of local systems needed checking. If your property has had storm or flood damage, have the system inspected before you rely on it again. For keeping the power on next time, see blackout backup.

Solar repair FAQs

My inverter is showing an error. What should I do?

Note the error code or take a photo, check your monitoring app, and call us. Don’t open the inverter or other equipment.

How often should solar panels be inspected?

Every few years for a typical home system, and after any major storm, branch strike or flood.

Is it worth repairing an old inverter?

Sometimes. If it has failed after many years, replacing it can be the time to go battery-ready. We give you a straight answer either way.

Can you check my system after a storm or flood?

Yes. If the equipment has been under water, don’t touch it. Keep clear and call us to inspect it before it is used again.
