The job

A Lennox Head home with a tiled roof and a household that wanted solar and a battery in one go, at a mid-tier price point. The GoodWe ESA all-in-one was the right fit: inverter and battery in a single stack, sized from the household’s bills, with room to add modules later.

What we installed

• Solar: 18 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels (475 W each), 8.55 kW in total, on the tiled roof
• Battery and inverter: a GoodWe ESA all-in-one with a 10 kW hybrid inverter and two battery modules, 16.6 kWh of storage (16.64 kWh in the design)
• Solar hot water timer, so the hot water heats during the day on solar
• Monitoring and app training

How it went

We met on site before install day to agree the battery position, check the switchboard and RCBOs, and confirm what stays on in a blackout. The GoodWe stands on its own concrete plinth in a corner against the brick wall, off the ground, with the safety signage on a plaque beside it. The panels went on in straight rows on the tiles, set back from the roof edges. Then came monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Two battery price points

How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

10-year battery, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.

What is the GoodWe ESA?

An all-in-one home battery: the hybrid inverter and the battery modules sit in one tidy stack. It is our mid-tier option, very good quality at a lower cost than our premium Sigenergy systems. See GoodWe batteries.

How much storage can a GoodWe ESA have?

It is built from battery modules, so the size is set by how many modules go in. This home has two modules (16.64 kWh in the design). More modules can be added later if the household needs more.

What does a solar hot water timer do?

It sets the electric hot water system to heat during the day, when the panels are making power, instead of overnight. That way more of your own solar goes into hot water.

Does a GoodWe battery suit a home near the beach?
