6.16 kW Jinko Solar and a Sigenergy Battery in Alstonville: Case Study
A 6.16 kW Jinko solar system with a Sigenergy hybrid inverter, a Sigenergy battery and a Gateway for home battery backup, for Greg and Jeff in Alstonville.
Our own in-house team designed and installed the system, and connected the home’s existing solar so it keeps working with the new battery.

The job
Greg and Jeff already had a solar system. They wanted a battery that suits how they use power, plus new panels, so we designed one system around both: new Jinko panels, a Sigenergy hybrid inverter, a Sigenergy battery and a Gateway, with their existing solar tied in rather than thrown away. They were happy to pose with their new battery on handover day.
What we installed
- Solar: 14 Jinko Tiger Neo panels (440 W each), 6.16 kW in total
- Inverter: an 8 kW Sigenergy hybrid inverter
- Battery: a Sigenergy SigenStor battery, designed at about 16 kWh. Greg and Jeff have since added more Sigenergy battery capacity to the stack
- Home battery backup: a single-phase Sigenergy Gateway, which switches the home over when the grid drops out
- Existing solar kept working: a Sigenergy Smart Load connection brings the existing system into the Gateway, so it can keep charging the battery and running the house during an outage
- Monitoring: consumption and production monitoring with app training
How it went
As with every job, we did a face-to-face site visit before install day to agree the battery position, check the switchboard and confirm which circuits the battery backs up. The solar and inverter went in first, then the battery once stock arrived, and we handled the grid application, the rebate paperwork, monitoring set-up and the sign-off call.
Because the battery is a stack, adding capacity later is simple. That is why we design systems battery-ready.
How every job like this runs
1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a 15-minute call.
2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.
3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.
4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Warranties
10-year battery, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.
The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.
