Jinko solar panels on two sections of a green metal roof on a Lismore area home, installed by Sun Connect Solar

The job

A new solar system and battery installed together on a home in the Lismore area, on a two-phase supply. Putting both in as one project meant the panels, inverter and battery were designed to work together from the start.

What we installed

  • Solar: 20.9 kW of Jinko panels
  • Battery: about 9 kWh Sigenergy SigenStor (9.04 kWh in the design)
  • Layout: panels on two sections of the roof, with the battery on an outside wall of the house

How it went

Like every system we design, this one was sized from the household’s real power use, not a generic package. The battery position, switchboard work and blackout circuits were checked and agreed at the face-to-face site visit before install day.

The Sigenergy unit is fixed to an outside wall with its companion unit beside it, the cabling run in conduit, and the required restricted-access and battery safety signage mounted next to it. Our electrician checked the finished job on site.

Blackout backup: a typical install backs up the whole home unless the customer asks us to leave some circuits out.

How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a 15-minute call.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

10-year battery, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.
