The job
A brick home in the Woodburn area on the lower Richmond River, with a three-phase supply and a garage with room for a battery. The household wanted a large battery that could carry the home on all three phases. The SigenStor stands on the garage floor against the wall, with a steel bollard on the open side.
What we installed
- Battery and inverter: a Sigenergy SigenStor with a 25 kW three-phase energy controller and about 32 kWh of storage
- Solar: CSI Solar 465 W panels, as recorded on the job
- Safety: a steel bollard at the battery, and battery and solar signage on the switchboard
- Consumption monitoring and app training

How it went
We met on site before install day to agree the battery position in the garage, check the three-phase switchboard and confirm what stays on in a blackout. The battery stands clear of the walls with its safety signage fitted, and the switchboard carries the battery (ES) and solar (PV) labels emergency services look for. Then came monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Batteries around Woodburn and Evans Head
Woodburn sits on the Richmond River between Coraki and Evans Head, and many homes here think about storms and floods first. A large battery gives backup when the power goes out, and its position is chosen with flood levels in mind. Nearby, see 13.3 kW of three-phase solar in the Coraki area.
How every job like this runs
1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.
2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.
3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.
4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Warranties
Every new install from us now comes with a 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.
The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.
Questions we get asked
What is a three-phase battery system?
It is a battery and inverter that work across all three phases of a three-phase supply, so the whole home can be backed up and the solar spread evenly. This one is a 25 kW three-phase Sigenergy SigenStor. See Sigenergy batteries.
Why is the battery in the garage with a bollard?
A garage is one of the allowed places for a home battery, as long as the clearances and the manufacturer’s rules are met. Where a car parks nearby, a steel bollard goes in front. See where a home battery can be installed.
Does flooding affect where a battery goes?
Around the lower Richmond River it can. We look at the site and the flood history on the visit and keep the battery in the safest allowed spot.
Can more battery be added later?
Yes. Sigenergy batteries are built from stackable modules, so more can be added later. See battery sizing.
Thinking about solar and a battery?
We’re based near Mullumbimby and install across the Northern Rivers. See solar and batteries in Coraki and Woodburn and Evans Head, or compare Sigenergy, GoodWe and Sungrow, Solax and Tesla.
