AIKO Neostar solar panels along a curved metal roof in Lennox Head, looking over gardens and hinterland forest, part of an 8.33 kW solar and 18 kWh Sigenergy battery install by Sun Connect Solar

A curved roof and a view

This Lennox Head home has a modern curved metal roof looking out over gardens and the forested ridges behind the village. The 17 new AIKO panels run in a straight line along the flatter part of the curve. The home already had solar; it was kept and tied in through a Sigenergy Gateway, so everything charges the battery and keeps running in an outage.

Kit

  • Solar: 17 AIKO Neostar panels (490 W each), 8.33 kW
  • Energy controller: a 6 kW Sigenergy single-phase SigenStor controller
  • Battery: two Sigenergy battery modules, about 18 kWh (18.08 kWh)
  • Existing solar: tied in through a Sigenergy Gateway
  • Monitoring and app training

The battery spot

The SigenStor stands on a concrete slab against a grey rendered wall under cover, with its conduit run straight up the wall and the safety signs beside it. A simple, tidy position, agreed face to face on the site visit before install day.

How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

Every new install from us now comes with a 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.

Questions we get asked

Can panels go on a curved roof?

Yes, on the flatter part of the curve. The rails follow the roof sheets, and the rows are kept where the pitch suits the panels.

Why 18 kWh rather than 16?

Newer Sigenergy battery modules hold about 9 kWh each, so two make about 18 kWh. See is Sigenergy worth it.

Can my existing solar join the new system?

Here it was tied in through a Sigenergy Gateway so it works with the battery and in blackouts. See adding a battery to existing solar.

What happens when the grid goes down?

The Sigenergy Gateway switches the home over to the battery and solar. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out. See blackout backup batteries.
