A 15 kW Three-Phase Sigenergy Upgrade Around an Existing Battery in Mullumbimby
An upgrade built around a battery that was already on site: a new 15 kW three-phase Sigenergy controller for the household’s 32 kWh battery, the old Fronius inverter removed and its panels redirected, the Gateway upgraded to dual-phase, and new AIKO and Trina panels added, in Mullumbimby.
Our own in-house team designed and installed the upgrade in May 2026.

Not a new system, a better one
This household already had a 32 kWh Sigenergy battery and solar running through an older Fronius inverter. The job was to bring it all together. The Fronius came out, its four strings of panels were redirected into a new 15 kW three-phase SigenStor controller, the Gateway and the cabling to the battery stack were upgraded for dual-phase. New panels went on as well: all-black AIKO panels on the long roof and five more on the pergola roof.

Work list
- Energy controller: a 15 kW three-phase Sigenergy SigenStor controller (the 32 kWh battery was already on site)
- Old Fronius inverter removed; four PV strings redirected to the new controller
- Gateway upgraded to dual-phase, with new cabling to the battery stack
- New solar: all-black AIKO panels (465 W each), plus extra Trina panels on the pergola roof
- Monitoring and app training
A garden roof
The new AIKO panels run in one long, straight line along a narrow metal roof above a rainforest garden and pond. The controller sits under the verandah on top of the existing battery stack.

How every job like this runs
1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.
2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.
3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.
4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Warranties
Every new install from us now comes with a 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.
Questions we get asked
Can you upgrade the inverter but keep my battery?
Sometimes, yes. Here the household already had a 32 kWh Sigenergy battery on site; the job gave it a new 15 kW three-phase controller rather than replacing the battery.
What happens to my old string inverter?
On this job the old Fronius inverter came out and its four strings of panels were redirected into the new Sigenergy controller, so all the solar now runs through the battery system.
Why upgrade the Gateway to dual-phase?
The home has more than one phase, so the Gateway and cabling to the battery stack were upgraded to suit. See single-phase vs three-phase.
What happens when the grid goes down?
The Sigenergy Gateway switches the home over to the battery and solar. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out. See blackout backup batteries.
