Sigenergy SigenStor 24 kWh battery with three modules against a brick wall under cover in Mullumbimby, installed by Sun Connect Solar

Bringing everything into one system

This property had solar on a shed and an air-conditioner running on its own circuit. The new design did more than add panels and a battery: it joined the shed solar into the new Sigenergy system so it all shows as one and helps charge the battery, upgraded the existing solar to keep working in a blackout through a Sigenergy Gateway, and ran extra cabling to bring the air-con in.

The equipment

  • Solar: 26 Trina Vertex S+ panels (475 W each), 12.35 kW
  • Energy controller: a 10 kW Sigenergy single-phase SigenStor controller
  • Battery: three Sigenergy battery modules, about 24 kWh (24.18 kWh)
  • Blackout backup: a Sigenergy Gateway, with the existing solar upgraded to work in blackouts
  • Shed solar joined into the system; air-con circuit brought in

Where the battery went

The SigenStor stands under cover against a dark brick wall on a concrete floor, with its conduits run straight up the bricks and the safety signs on the front. It was the spot agreed on the site visit: sheltered, level and close to where the cables needed to go.

Mullumbimby’s bigger systems

Larger blocks on the edge of Mullumbimby often have sheds, studios and older solar spread around. Pulling it all into one battery system is a common job for us. See also an existing battery brought onto a three-phase Sigenergy system in Mullumbimby and a 9 kWh Sigenergy battery in Mullumbimby.

How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

Every new install from us now comes with a 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.

Questions we get asked

Can solar on a shed help charge the house battery?

Yes. On this job the existing shed solar was brought into the new system, so it shows in the same app and helps charge the battery.

Can the air-conditioner run on the battery?

It can, if it is wired onto the backed-up side. Here the air-con had been on its own; extra cabling brought it into the system. See how long a battery runs a house.

Why Trina panels?

We mostly use AIKO and Jinko, and use other quality panels such as Trina where they suit the job. See AIKO vs Jinko panels.

What happens when the grid goes down?

The Sigenergy Gateway switches the home over to the battery and solar. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out. See blackout backup batteries.
