7.48 kW Jinko Solar with a GoodWe Inverter at Hastings Point: Case Study
A 7.48 kW solar system of 17 black Jinko Tiger Neo panels in a long run on a red corrugated roof, with a 5 kW GoodWe inverter, for a home at Hastings Point on the Tweed Coast, between Pottsville and Cabarita Beach and a short drive south of Kingscliff.
Our own in-house team designed and installed the system in October 2025.

The job
A home at Hastings Point, among palms and tidy gardens, with a red corrugated roof. The household wanted solar to cover their daytime use. The roof face that gets the best sun is long and narrow, so the design put the panels in one long, straight run along it, feeding a 5 kW GoodWe inverter.
What we installed
- Solar: 17 black Jinko Tiger Neo panels (440 W each), 7.48 kW in total
- Inverter: a 5 kW GoodWe single-phase solar inverter
- Monitoring set-up

How it went
We met on site before install day to check the roof, the switchboard and the distance from the beach against the panel maker’s salt-air rules, so there were no surprises on the day. The panels went on in one straight run along the roof, square to the ridge and clear of the roof vent. Then came monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Solar on the Tweed Coast, from Kingscliff to Pottsville
Hastings Point, Cabarita Beach, Casuarina and Kingscliff all sit close to the surf, so salt air is part of every design here: the panel and battery makers each set their own distance rules, and we check them for the exact address. How every job like this runs
1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.
2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.
3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.
4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Warranties
Every new solar install from us now comes with 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.
The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.
Questions we get asked
Do you install solar in Kingscliff and on the Tweed Coast?
Yes. We install from Tweed Heads and Kingscliff down through Cabarita Beach, Hastings Point and Pottsville, on the NSW side of the border only, always with a face-to-face site visit first. See solar installers in Tweed Heads and Kingscliff.
Is Hastings Point too close to the beach for solar panels?
Panel makers set rules for salt air, measured from the shoreline. Jinko’s manual asks for at least 50 m from the shore, with the connectors protected between 50 and 500 m. We check the address against the maker’s rules at design time. Read solar and batteries near the coast.
Why a 5 kW inverter with 7.48 kW of panels?
Panels rarely make their full rated output, so a larger array on a 5 kW inverter is common and makes better use of the morning and afternoon sun. See how big a solar system do I need.
Can a battery be added later?
Many solar-only systems can take a battery later. We look at the inverter, the switchboard and the coastal rules for the battery, which are stricter than for panels, and tell you honestly what is involved. See adding a battery to existing solar.
