The job

A home at The Channon, in the hills north of Lismore, with a galvanised corrugated roof and views down the valley. The household wanted solar and a battery at a mid-tier price point. The GoodWe ESA all-in-one suited the job: inverter and battery in one unit, mounted under the raised house and out of the weather.

• Solar: 14 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels (475 W each), 6.65 kW in total
• Battery and inverter: a GoodWe ESA all-in-one with a 10 kW hybrid inverter and two battery modules, 16.6 kWh of storage (16.64 kWh in the design)
• Monitoring and app training

How it went

We met on site before install day to agree the battery position, check the switchboard and RCBOs, and confirm what stays on in a blackout. The GoodWe is mounted on a dark non-combustible backing board under the house, standing on pavers, with the cabling in conduit. On the roof, the panels went on in two neat rows. Then came monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Two battery price points

We offer two main battery brands so people can get the outcome they need: Sigenergy as our premium option and GoodWe as our mid-tier option. How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

10-year battery, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.

Questions we get asked

What is the GoodWe ESA?

An all-in-one home battery: the hybrid inverter and the battery modules sit in one tidy unit. It is our mid-tier option, very good quality at a lower cost than our premium Sigenergy systems. See GoodWe batteries.

Can a battery go under a raised house?

Often, yes, as long as the clearances, the backing board and the manufacturer’s rules are met. Here it is mounted on a non-combustible backing board under the house. See where a home battery can be installed.

Do you travel out to The Channon and Nimbin?

Yes. We install across the Northern Rivers, including the villages north of Lismore such as The Channon, Dunoon and Nimbin, and we do a face-to-face site visit before every install.

Can more battery be added later?

Yes. The GoodWe ESA is built from battery modules, two on this job, and more can be added later if the household needs more storage.
