The job
A South Golden Beach home under palms, with a grey Colorbond roof and a household that wanted a lot of solar and a battery for the evening. The design spread 30 panels across the best roof faces and put the battery beside the house on a raised block base, clear of the ground.
What we installed
- Solar: 30 AIKO Neostar panels (470 W each), 14.1 kW in total, on the Colorbond roof
- Inverter: a 10 kW Sigenergy single-phase hybrid inverter
- Battery: two Sigenergy 8 kWh battery modules, 16.12 kWh of storage (7.8 kWh usable each)
- Consumption and production monitoring, app training and a walk-through of picking a retailer and tariff from the home’s own meter data

How it went
We met on site before install day to agree the battery position, check the switchboard and RCBOs, and make sure there were no surprises on the day. The battery and inverter stand on a raised block base against the weatherboard wall, with the safety signage fitted. On the roof, the panels went on in straight rows on the Colorbond. Then came monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Solar and batteries in South Golden Beach
South Golden Beach sits on the coast just north of Ocean Shores, with plenty of low-set homes close to the beach. Battery position, coastal distance and keeping equipment off the ground are things we work through on every site visit here. See another nearby job: a 24 kWh Sigenergy battery in Ocean Shores.
How every job like this runs
1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.
2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.
3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.
4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Warranties
10-year battery, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.
The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.
Questions we get asked
Why put so many panels on with a 16 kWh battery?
A big array makes plenty of power through the day to run the home and fill the battery, even on cloudier days. The size was set from the household’s own power bills. See how big a solar system do I need.
Why is the battery up on a block base?
Low-lying coastal streets can get water in big storms, so on this job the battery sits on a raised block base beside the house. Where a battery may go is set by the Australian battery standard and the manufacturer. See where a home battery can be installed.
Is South Golden Beach too close to the beach for a battery?
It depends on the exact distance and the brand. Sigenergy’s manual sets a minimum distance from the coast, so we check the battery position against it at design time. Read solar batteries near the coast.
Can more battery be added later?
Yes. Sigenergy batteries are built from modules, two on this job, and more modules can be added later if the household needs more storage.
