At Sun Connect Solar, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

 

1. What We Collect

We may collect personal information such as:

• Your name, email address, and phone number
• Your home or business address
• Information about your solar power needs
• Device, browser, and IP address information
• Website usage data via cookies and advertising tags (the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag), such as the pages you visit and whether you used one of our calculators or sent a form

We collect this information directly from you through forms, emails, phone calls, and website interactions.

 

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

• Provide solar quotes and services
• Respond to enquiries
• Improve our website and services
• Send you updates and promotions (if you opt in)
• Comply with legal obligations

 

3. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share it with:

• Trusted service providers and contractors (e.g., installers, finance partners)
• With your consent, a trusted local partner such as a licensed plumber, when you ask us about a service we do not provide (for example hot water heat pumps). We may receive a referral fee if you go ahead with them, and we will always ask you first
• Advertising platforms (Meta, which runs Facebook and Instagram, and Google) so we can measure our ads and show our ads to people who have visited our website, as explained in section 4
• Legal or regulatory authorities where required by law

Some data may be processed or stored overseas by cloud-based service providers.

 

4. Cookies, Advertising Tags and Retargeting

Our website uses cookies and two advertising tags: the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and the Google Ads tag. They record that a browser visited our pages and, if you used one of our calculators or sent us a form, that this happened. They do not read your name or contact details from the page.

We use this data to:

• Measure which of our ads lead to enquiries
• Show our ads on Facebook, Instagram and Google to people who have visited our website in the last 180 days (often called retargeting or remarketing), for example a reminder about the calculator you used
• Understand which pages are useful so we can improve the site

We do not sell this data. You can opt out of retargeting at any time: adjust your ad settings on Facebook (Settings & privacy > Ad preferences) and Google (adssettings.google.com), block or delete cookies in your browser, or use the Your Online Choices opt-out. Disabling cookies may affect some website functionality (for example the calculators remember nothing between pages).

If you send us your details through one of our calculators or forms, your browser also keeps your first name, mobile number and postcode in its own local storage (not a cookie, and never sent anywhere by itself) for up to 180 days, so our other calculators and forms are pre-filled for you next time on that device. Click "Not you? Clear" on any form to delete it, or clear your browser’s site data.

 

5. Keeping Your Data Safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from:

• Unauthorised access
• Misuse, interference or loss
• Unlawful or accidental destruction

All Sun Connect Solar staff and contractors are required to handle data securely and in line with this policy.

 

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate or outdated data
• Withdraw your consent for direct marketing at any time
