8.55 kW Jinko Solar on a Battery-Ready Sigenergy Inverter at Nimbin: Case Study
An old set of panels replaced with 18 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels (8.55 kW) and a Sigenergy 10 kW hybrid inverter mounted under the house on a formply board, ready for a battery later, at Nimbin.
Our own in-house team designed and installed the system in August 2026.

A hillside home in the rainforest
This Nimbin home sits on a slope among tall rainforest trees, raised on posts with a pale corrugated roof. The older panels on the roof came off at no cost and were left stacked neatly on site for the owners. In their place went 18 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels in two long rows on the face that gets the most sun through the trees.
An inverter under the house
Under the raised floor there was a dry, shaded spot that suited the inverter. A formply board on a post gives it a solid mount, with the conduits run straight up into the house. The Sigenergy hybrid inverter is battery-ready: Sigenergy battery modules can be added later without changing it.

Kit list
- Solar: 18 Jinko Tiger Neo III panels (475 W each), 8.55 kW
- Inverter: a 10 kW Sigenergy single-phase hybrid inverter, ready for a battery
- Formply mounting board under the house
- Old panel removal, left on site

Solar around Nimbin
Nimbin’s homes are often set among trees on slopes, so shade and roof direction drive the design more than anything. We check what sun each roof face actually gets on the site visit. Nearby: a GoodWe battery at The Channon and a 16 kWh Sigenergy battery at Dunoon.
How every job like this runs
1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.
2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.
3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.
4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.
Warranties
Every new solar install from us now comes with 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.
Questions we get asked
Can the inverter go under the house?
Often, yes, where it is dry, ventilated and out of direct sun. Here it is mounted on a formply board on a post under a raised house.
Why a hybrid inverter with no battery yet?
A hybrid inverter takes a battery later without being replaced. On Sigenergy, battery modules stack onto the system when the household is ready. See adding a battery later.
What happened to the old panels?
They came off the roof at no cost and were left neatly on site for the owners, as agreed.
Does solar work among tall trees?
Where the panels get direct sun, yes. We put them on the faces that are clearest through the year and size the system to what they can make. See shading and cleaning.
