7.1 kW Trina Solar and a 32 kWh Sigenergy Battery at Rosebank: Case Study

Fifteen Trina Vertex S+ panels (7.1 kW), the existing solar tied in through a Sigenergy Gateway, a 10 kW Sigenergy controller and a 32 kWh battery with four modules, for a home on the hillside above the rainforest valley at Rosebank.

Our own in-house team designed and installed the system in April 2026.

A hillside home with solar already on it

This Rosebank home looks over a rainforest valley, with metal roofs, skylights and a satellite dish to plan around. It already had solar. The design kept that system and tied it into a Sigenergy Gateway, added a row of 15 Trina panels, and put in a large four-module battery.

Parts

  • New solar: 15 Trina Vertex S+ panels (475 W each), 7.125 kW
  • Existing solar: kept and tied in through the Gateway
  • Energy controller: a 10 kW Sigenergy single-phase SigenStor controller
  • Battery: four Sigenergy battery modules, about 32 kWh (32.24 kWh)
  • Blackout backup: a Sigenergy Gateway

Where it all sits

The SigenStor stands under cover against an old brick wall, on a level concrete floor, with its safety signs fitted. On the roofs, the new panels run in one long row on the main face and in a block on the lower roof, clear of the skylight and dish.

Rosebank and the hills north of Lismore

Rosebank sits in the green hills between Lismore, Dunoon and Federal, where long rural power lines and storms make batteries and blackout backup popular. Nearby: a 16 kWh Sigenergy battery at Dunoon and a 32 kWh battery added to existing solar at Federal.

How every job like this runs

1. Free energy assessment from one or two recent power bills, or a quick phone call on 0483 903 020.

2. Custom design sized from the household’s real usage, with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and solar STCs taken off at point of sale. We handle the paperwork. See your rebates or try the battery rebate calculator.

3. Face-to-face site visit before install day: compliant battery position, switchboard and RCBO check, and agreement on what stays on in a blackout. No surprises on the day.

4. Install, usually one day, by our own electricians. No subcontractors. Then monitoring set-up, grid connection and a sign-off call.

Warranties

Every new install from us now comes with a 10-year battery warranty, 10-year inverter replacement, 25-year panel performance and our 25-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. Equipment is covered by the manufacturer warranties.

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027, based on install date. If a battery is on your list, it’s worth getting your assessment done early.

Questions we get asked

Can old and new solar work as one system?

Yes. Here the existing solar was tied into a Sigenergy Gateway, so it and the 15 new panels both charge the battery and keep producing in a blackout. See adding a battery to existing solar.

Is a 32 kWh battery a lot?

It is a large home battery. Sized from this household’s own bills, it carries the evening, the night and outages. See battery sizing.

What about the skylights and the satellite dish?

The panel rows are set out to keep clear of skylights, dishes and vents, so nothing has to move and nothing is shaded.

What happens when the grid goes down?

The Sigenergy Gateway switches the home over to the battery and solar. A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out. See blackout backup batteries.
