Plateau homes, acreage, sheds and orchards. Solar and batteries designed around how you actually use power.

Alstonville and Wollongbar sit up on the Alstonville Plateau between Ballina and Lismore, at around 140 to 170 metres above sea level. The red soil country around them has grown macadamias since the first commercial orchard was planted at nearby Rous Mill in the 1880s. Between the town streets and the newer Wollongbar estates are lifestyle blocks, farm sheds and working orchards, and each needs a different design.

Town homes and newer estates

In Alstonville’s established streets and Wollongbar’s newer estates, it’s usually a straightforward home system. We size the solar and battery from your bills, check the roof and switchboard on the site visit, and the install usually takes one day. Closer to the coast? See our Ballina page.

Acreage and shed-mounted solar

On a lifestyle block, the house roof isn’t always the best spot. A big north-facing shed roof can carry more panels with less shade. The catch is getting the power back to the house: cable size and run length, trenching, and where the inverter and battery sit. All of that is in your proposal, so nothing changes on the day.

Bore, tank and irrigation pumps often run during the day, which suits solar. We look at when your big loads run and design around them, rather than around a generic package.

Orchards, farm sheds and plateau businesses

For macadamia farms, packing sheds and businesses around the Russellton Industrial Estate, our large commercial electrical background means three-phase boards, big motors and seasonal loads are routine. We design from your bills or interval data and work around harvest and trading hours. Commercial solar →

Where the grid is a long way off, off-grid solar can make sense for a shed, a cabin or a new home. For most plateau homes the grid is close, so we’ll tell you honestly which fits.

What we install

Batteries from Sigenergy (premium) to GoodWe (mid-tier, the ESA all-in-one with 8 kWh modules), and we also install Sungrow, Solax and Tesla. AIKO and Jinko panels. We add batteries to existing solar, fit EV chargers at homes and farm sheds, and set up blackout backup: a typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out.

Northern Rivers residents: $500 off your system. Ask us about it on your assessment.

Alstonville and Wollongbar FAQs

Can you put the panels on my shed instead of the house?

Often, yes. We check the shed roof, the distance to the house and the cable run on the site visit, and the trenching and cabling are in your proposal so there are no surprises.

Do you do three-phase systems for farms?

Yes. Three-phase boards and larger loads are routine for our team, with 25 years in solar and large commercial electrical work.

Will a battery run my bore or tank pump in a blackout?

A typical install backs up the whole home unless you ask us to leave circuits out. If the pump runs from a shed or a separate board, we check how it’s wired and tell you what can be backed up.

Do you cover the whole plateau?

Yes: Alstonville, Wollongbar, Rous Mill, Teven and the rural roads in between, plus Ballina, Lennox Head and Lismore.

Should I go off-grid instead of staying connected?

For most plateau homes the grid is close, so a grid-connected system with a battery usually makes more sense. Off-grid suits places where connecting is impractical. We tell you honestly which fits.
